November hustle and bustle

Well, what an exciting few weeks we have had!

Firstly there was the beautiful wedding we created in St Andrews for our lovely bride Miriam Stevens. She chose for her bridal bouquet a large pompom mass of Avalanche roses and a smaller pompom mass of Cool Water roses for her bridesmaids. She then chose gorgeous clouds of green Hydrangea heads and White Majolika spray roses; Avalanche, Sweet Avalanche and Cool Water roses; and deep purple Vanda Orchid heads - a wonderfully soft/strong, stunning combination! Then for the table flowers, a combination of different heights and styles of vases were used across the room for a more bespoke style, really beautiful.

We also managed to get a sneaky picture of the bride herself in her wonderful flowing dress.

It was a bright, cool Autumn day and the venue and St Andrews looked truly stunning. Ruby took the opportunity to take in some of the beautiful scenery too. It was an absolute pleasure to be involved in Miriam's special day.

We also had the great opportunity of creating vibrant table centres and stage flowers for the SQA Awards at the Science Centre. We created these using Green Shamrocks and Purple Spotty Vanda Orchid Heads. We also submerged little lights into the purple coloured water which, gave a really lovely twinkle across the room.

Our Christmas stock has started to arrive and we have been up to our eyeballs in boxes containing beautiful little vases, candles, tea light and candle holders, large floor vases, cut glass table decorations, garlands, baubles, hanging decorations, wall pieces, soft furnishings and local hand-made chocolates...we could go on and on. And a cute little toadstool seat which came in handy whilst unpacking for hours! Come in and have a look for yourself!

And last but not least, we are over the moon to reveal that we are currently working with Vivienne Westwood Glasgow. Combining beautiful flowers and arrangements with their amazing bags and shoes. Come and see our fabulous 'Pop-Up' window display showing some of their GORGEOUS items!

Our favourite is the black Orb bag brimming with red Gerbera, peacock feathers and Vanda Orchids and also the red and gold heart shoes, very festive. Also, the quirky white Cherry Shoes on a tray of purple, red and silver votive and Gerbera makes a different yet stunning centre piece, why not have your favourite shoes or bags as floral works of art! We are excited to tell you that we are also going to be running a little competition where the lucky winner will receive a totally unique Ruby Flowers Christmas Wreath with some Vivienne Westwood goodies on it! More details to follow asap (we promise we won't keep you waiting to find out how to win this amazing prize too long!!)

Also, make sure you pop into Vivienne Westwood in Princes Square to find out more about their special customer events taking place next week in conjunction with Ruby Flowers, on Thursday 25th Nov and Friday 26th Nov. Recently we have had the great opportunity to create stunning floral displays for Cameron Presentations at a Wedding Show at the SECC. Our lovely Caroline and Johnny were there on the Saturday to set up our gorgeous work on their modern light installations, giving the prospective brides ideas for a more unique wedding day.

Over the last week we created flowers for two weddings, both with completely different but stunning concepts and themes. We welcome any brides-to-be to come in and discuss their dream wedding flowers with us and see what our many years of experience and knowledge will help them to create for their wonderful day.

We have been doing some lovely contract work recently, beautiful vases for receptions, table flowers for restaurants and arrangements for bars to help keep everyone’s spirits high in this cold, dark weather.

Every week our stock seems to change more towards the autumnal and wintery themes with flowers such as Snowberry, Pussy Willow and Physalis Lanterns. We have many loyal and wonderful customers who come in week after week to collect gorgeous hand-tied bunches for them to pop into their vases at home and truly dress their interiors in style.

We have some gorgeous white flowers and foliages in at the moment such as these beautiful Cotton stems which are ideal for those more minimal and neutral interiors. We also have a lovely selection of home ware, our current favourite is the crystal facet stem holders which we think look amazing with little stems of Snowberry. Keep an eye out for what other lovely pieces we get in over the next couple of months or so in the run up to...dare I say it...Christmas!

This week Ruby loves the David Austin rose which has a wonderful ‘whipped cream’ centre and we think looks so pretty floating in this little goldfish bowl. Another favourite this week is the ‘Purple Power’ rose which we have in stock for a wedding. It has a gorgeous scent of rosy garden raspberries and is simply divine! We think it beautifully complements this yummy Damask Rug from one of our favourite nationwide stores - Habitat, perfect for keeping your feet cosy on the cold nights in. (And it is currently in the sale, hurrah!).

Much love and keep watching this space x x
