New year - new flowers

We had the great pleasure of creating beautiful wedding flowers on the 29th December for Marie Murphy. The wedding was held at Culzean Castle followed by the reception at Turnberry Hotel, Ayrshire. The setting was truly stunning. The bride chose a classic hand-tied posy of ivory roses and spray roses and for her bridesmaids a chic posy containing red Grand Prix roses, thistles and berries - a perfect winter selection! The front entrance was decorated with lovely bay trees and large outdoor candle vases lined with ruscus. Lush vases of lilies, roses, berries and glossy foliage filled the windows in the ceremony hall.

The table flowers were gorgeous candelabras filled with ivory roses, thistles, berries, lilies and ivy - lush and really made the room have a wonderful warm glow of candles. The cake table was simply decorated with scattered rose petals and candles.

Come in past the shop and see some of the beautiful new seasonal flowers we have in - we have been getting gorgeous hyacinths, freesia, tulips and anemones in beautiful bright and tutti fruitti colours. Treat yourself to a little taste of spring! We also have potted bulbs galore -Crocus', Muscari, Tete-a-Tete and Hyacinths, a perfect way to look forward to the warmer and lighter days!
We have a real love of orchids at the moment and have a stunning selection of Phalaenopsis, Vanda and Cymbidium orchids, in mini, planted and cut-stem varieties - so exotic and fresh.
We are looking forward to the exciting and busy times ahead with Valentines day not long away now. There will be a fantastic selection of romantic flowers, traditional reds and the more unique and bespoke combinations to suit your loved ones' style and preference. Come in or phone and chat to the Ruby Flowers team, we will be able to guide you in the right direction even if you dont yet know what you are looking for. Wear your heart on your sleeve and be a true romantic, we are here to help.

Creating Christmas at Ruby's

Well December has arrived now, truly in style with a snowy winter wonderland, maybe not so wonderful to travel in but pretty all the same! And whilst you are stuck inside nice and cosy on these dark evenings why not have some beautiful seasonal flowers and arrangements to brighten up your environment...
We have lovely Ilex berries in stock which are the perfect introduction to Christmas style without going overboard with the glitz too soon! We have been using it with pine stems to create simple little pots for some of our clients and for dressing the shop.

We have started creating gorgeous, bespoke Christmas wreaths for our clients and customers this week. Any style which you require, we can design a beautiful and unique Christmas wreath for indoors or outdoors, for your front door or that special table centre piece - Rustic, Country Cottage, Contemporary, Sleek, Scented Pine and Eucalyptus or beautiful fresh roses and berries. Phone or pop in and speak to us about which style you would like or if we can help you design something more unusual or that extra special something.

We have a gorgeous selection of LSA glassware which has just arrived, beautiful Bonbon Jars, Red or Black glass bowls and larger Clear Glass Hurricane Vases.

If you already have a candelabra which you would like spruced up for Christmas we can also create lovely fresh arrangements like this one with dried apple slices, cinnamon and dried chillies, made especially for your particular size, shape or colour theme.

And why not add in some of our chic True Grace Advent Candles or Dinning Candles in Deep Red or Beeswax. We have bought some Advent ones ourselves, although be careful not to burn away too many days (we are already on the 3rd Dec, oops!). Or add to that wonderful Christmas feeling with the scented True Grace Glass Candles in their special Christmas scent or one of their Candle Tins in Fig, Wild Mint, Freesia, Stem Ginger and Vine Tomato.

Be sure to pop in and gather some ideas or let us help you create your very own perfect Christmas Wreaths, Garlands, Vases, Fresh Decorations or anything else you require! We also offer a Gift Wrapping service for a small fee on all our homeware items, so no need to worry about wrapping those difficult shapes, let us make them even more beautiful for you.

November hustle and bustle

Well, what an exciting few weeks we have had!

Firstly there was the beautiful wedding we created in St Andrews for our lovely bride Miriam Stevens. She chose for her bridal bouquet a large pompom mass of Avalanche roses and a smaller pompom mass of Cool Water roses for her bridesmaids. She then chose gorgeous clouds of green Hydrangea heads and White Majolika spray roses; Avalanche, Sweet Avalanche and Cool Water roses; and deep purple Vanda Orchid heads - a wonderfully soft/strong, stunning combination! Then for the table flowers, a combination of different heights and styles of vases were used across the room for a more bespoke style, really beautiful.

We also managed to get a sneaky picture of the bride herself in her wonderful flowing dress.

It was a bright, cool Autumn day and the venue and St Andrews looked truly stunning. Ruby took the opportunity to take in some of the beautiful scenery too. It was an absolute pleasure to be involved in Miriam's special day.

We also had the great opportunity of creating vibrant table centres and stage flowers for the SQA Awards at the Science Centre. We created these using Green Shamrocks and Purple Spotty Vanda Orchid Heads. We also submerged little lights into the purple coloured water which, gave a really lovely twinkle across the room.

Our Christmas stock has started to arrive and we have been up to our eyeballs in boxes containing beautiful little vases, candles, tea light and candle holders, large floor vases, cut glass table decorations, garlands, baubles, hanging decorations, wall pieces, soft furnishings and local hand-made chocolates...we could go on and on. And a cute little toadstool seat which came in handy whilst unpacking for hours! Come in and have a look for yourself!

And last but not least, we are over the moon to reveal that we are currently working with Vivienne Westwood Glasgow. Combining beautiful flowers and arrangements with their amazing bags and shoes. Come and see our fabulous 'Pop-Up' window display showing some of their GORGEOUS items!

Our favourite is the black Orb bag brimming with red Gerbera, peacock feathers and Vanda Orchids and also the red and gold heart shoes, very festive. Also, the quirky white Cherry Shoes on a tray of purple, red and silver votive and Gerbera makes a different yet stunning centre piece, why not have your favourite shoes or bags as floral works of art! We are excited to tell you that we are also going to be running a little competition where the lucky winner will receive a totally unique Ruby Flowers Christmas Wreath with some Vivienne Westwood goodies on it! More details to follow asap (we promise we won't keep you waiting to find out how to win this amazing prize too long!!)

Also, make sure you pop into Vivienne Westwood in Princes Square to find out more about their special customer events taking place next week in conjunction with Ruby Flowers, on Thursday 25th Nov and Friday 26th Nov.
